    For the Italian side of this Wehrpass , it is very interesting: from July 13 to 17 in Villa Minozzo there was an early attempt by the Germans to eliminate the Partisan Republic of Montefiorino (in the Apennines between Modena-Bologna and Florence) before major attack in late July and first of August... very very nice wehrpass!!!....

      Hello Mufasa.

      Thanks for the extra information. I believe all three person from this penalty bataillon fought in Italy just before Market Garden. The dutch civilian thought they were british soldiers because of their tropical clothing. But they were still wearing their tropical clothing which they wore in Italy.

              Here is another wehrpass from a soldier from lw jag bataillon zbv 6. It belonged to Walther Hinke. The wehrpass is part of a large grouping incl soldbuch from him. He also fought in my hometown on 17 september 1944 after arriving from Italy. He has also a nahkampftag entry for 17 september 1944

                He was also in the Apenines for anti partisan actions. The signature on the right page is from Wehking, commander of the penalty bataillon.

                          A small contribution from mine small collection:a dutch SS Landstorm Soldbuch,which is signed by Obersturmführer Hugo Fernau,at the time of Market Garden SS-Hauptscharführer ,now Obersturmfuhrer.He lived since 1919 in Holland,and belonged to the staff around Kaiser Wilhelm II from Germany who escaped to Holland at the end of WWI.He was not really willing to fight at Market Garden because he had 2 brothers in law which fight whit the dutch army.He got captured by the English for a short time.

                            Nice piece indeed. Small correction. Fernau was an SS-Ostuf during the battle of Arnhem only being made up less then 1 month prior.
