Early SS Soldbuch

    Hi All,

The following scans show an early SS Soldbuch(Army Version). This came complete with the Soldiers file. The interesting points to this are the Stamping of Waffen SS on the front cover. The Soldier lists his occupation as 'Soldat'. A nice Uniform Photo with headgear. This soldier Bernhard Korte served in the Pre war SS VT earning the Sudetenland Medal, Anschluss Medal. He fought in Poland, France and the first Russian winter with SS Regt Germania, when he was casevaced with Frost bite in both feet. Then Served in Inf Ers Btl 'Ost'(If anyone can furnish more details on this unit I would be grateful). Mobilised again in 1944 he won an EKII and Inf Assault Badge in Silver. Finished the war as a Hauptscharfuhrer in SS Wach Battalion Prag.

    Cheers

    Mark

                  Soldbuch

                  Hallo Mark,

Many of the Swedish volunteers that I once knew served in SS-Ersatzbataillon Ost, in 1941, which delivered soldiers to the Wiking division. If this unit later got another name I don´t know.

                    Bataillon Ost

                    Hello,

                    Tessin mentions the following:

                    SS.-Ers.Btl. Ost, * 15. 3. 1941 in Breslau für die dem Befh. Waffen-SS Südost unterstehenden SS-Inf. Rgter. (früher Totenkopfstandarten) 4, 5, 9, 10 und 14; geteilt in das nach ****omir verlegte Ausb.Btl. und das Ers.Btl. in Breslau; wurden 1. 11. 1943 Gren.Ers., bzw. Gren.Ausb.Btl. 31 in Breslau und ****omir.

                      What's this **** ?

Never seen this before. I typed the name in the correct spelling. Is this censorship or a proof of the high linguistic stantards in our forum

Anyway. As You probably know, the first half of the name is a crude English expression for something every human being produces each day, unless he has problems with his digestion.

                          ****

Why don´t we use the German word Scheisse hereafter when we are refering to something bad? Has nothing to do with that town ****omir, though...

Or persuade the software by writing S<!-->hitomir to get S<!-->hitomir.

To all who replied thanks. Johannes could you translate the German text from Tessin?

                              Thank you
