    Hi Trevor
I have read carefully the whole discussion, and unfortunately it did not result in a change of my opinion about the Souval's EK2 with a deep "3".
Enough, in this discussion have sprung up arguments that can confirm that it is a cross of war-time (information on the cross EK1 with a deep "3" sent to homes by an American soldier in 1945 with a letter informing where it comes from ...)

So I remain with my ruling:
... both, me and you, do not have any evidence for this, it's just conjecture or deductions, and so, unfortunately, will be still...

Trevor, have you considered the possibility, that the crosses were produced at the end of the war, from 1944 to 1945 (that's why there are not many among veterans), and there was no time to become crosses broadcasts on the battlefield... and because the dies were practically new Souval extended of productions crosses to post-war period ...

Recently, someone wanted to convince me that proves, that the cross Souval's EK2 with a deep "3" is the post-war, are crosses EK2 signed L / 58 (pictured)... Only that are quite different core ... And here the question arises, what purpose Souval would be, produce so many different matrices of cores crosses EK-1939 after the war (we still have the Souval's core to cross so-called Straight Arms) ?
However, I do not expect an answer to this question, because it can not be, and unfortunately these are just the suspicion and conjecture
