The front looks kind of okay but the problems starts on the back.

Like schönbeck says it's a very asymmetric pin. Okay, could be a replacement but why stamp the pin with L/65, who never made a kvk?!

I'll leave the conclusion to you

Well the maker Dr.Franke & CO are on the list of KVK makers..
He might not be on the list of this forum, but in other forums..
And if this cross are a fake where are the other crosses on the market?
Still this is the only one found with this mark...

Well, it's the first time I've seen L/65 on a KVK, not that it means that much.

Nothing in my files and no mention in Gordon Williamsons KVK book either but no problem Could be a new maker, who knows?

                  I'd bet it's not original.

I personal would take this KVK1 at home!
I have more than one KVK1 which is not known, Wiedmann, W&L marked L/55 and even L/20 marked KVK1 which is not even on the LDO list!

I can only say, we do know not much about KVK1! But the design is from Lüdenscheid-Area and hook and pin combination is not like S&L, even the pin form is known, but maybe too much deformed by the maker mark!

I would go for it, if I would find this cross!

                    Wiedmann:
                    http://kvk1-dna.de/ferdinand-wiedman...---pinback.php
                    W&L L/55 - seen two times:
                    http://kvk1-dna.de/l-55-rudolf-waech...---pinback.php
                    L/20:
                    http://kvk1-dna.de/-l-20--unknown-maker---screwback.php

So far we know nothing about KVK1 and I would be happy to make Fotos of this KVK1 with Lüdenscheid-Design

Nobody will mark a KVK1 with original obverse design with None typical pin/ catch combination with L/65 which is listed as official LDO maker only one time!

For me it is an authentic & rare cross ;-) A very hard nut to get!

The KVK1 w/o was not so important that even the maker 50 could produced the most of all KVK1 w/o Swords!

until proven otherwise I believe it's no good.

Is there anything else marked L/65 that we can look at? Right now I don't recall anything similar but I could be wrong ofcourse.

                          Howdy!
This cross is a fake cross.

I can not understand why the statement in this thread that this would be a authentic & rare cross has not been corrected.

                          Best regards

                              Nice work, Martin

Well, two members insist that it's a real and rare cross but without solid evidence it's hard to prove them wrong.

I also stumbled upon this L/12 in my fake files but the obverse is missing here. The catch, hinge etc looks similar but without the front it's hard to conclude.
