    Douglas,
IMO ribbon ring is replaced in this Ekii. That's obvious for me that that Ekii has nothing with Schickle.

Michal ... yes I understand that the ribbon ring had been put on this cross . The question is ... if the L15 marked ribbon ring is an original off of an Ost medal ... or is that L15 mark itself is post war struck/made ??

I see a 100% postwar cross with a postwar Souval core, same as this one here, and a postwar ring stamp.

Michal, is that L15 Ost considered a wartime piece? If so, can you please explain why, or provide a link to the discussion?
        Best regards,

OK - the L15 is a post war mark . Hence the question Trevor placed about the Ost medal itself with the same post war ring .

            Trev,

As you know I'm mainly in crosses but when I got nice medal bar (Ekii marked L/14, that Ost marked L15, Luftschutz medal and Finish Urheudesta medal) form reliable source I've done search and haven't found any info regarding L15 ost is postwar.

My point of view is that L15 is Orth mark used for some time during war and post war. I do believe in what we can read in George and Dietrich Eki book. Just think that not all L15 marked products are postwar. Some time ago we seen L15 Eki with wartime finish and quality ( as I remember PeterM got it directly from family in neighbourhood, he knows from a child) I have had few Eki marked L15 and most of them were postwar with no doubts but two identical in every way with 15 marked with the same quality and finish

As always it's only my POV and I know that I'm in that 20% of less you mentioned and I can be wrong.

As you know in the rest EK's we have the same opinions.

Plaut, I compared the EK in question to my "27" and while the frames are similar the cores are very different.

Tony, the ring dimensions are as follows:

                    Outside dia.= 12.8mm (.507")
                    Inside dia.= 9.75mm (.384")
                    Ring thickness = 1.5mm (.060")

The L15 stamp shown in the added pictures is a dead ringer to what is on the ring of this EK, I really don't need to add any pictures of the mark in question because that's it. Stupid camera.

Streptile, That's it! I don't know how I missed that one when I was researching this EK but that is most definitely a match.

So the jury is in and it is a post war Souval. Now the next question is do these any value in a collection? If not then it's going back.

No I used a crappy ruler to do the outside diameter so thank you for the adjustments.

From the dimensions it sounds like it was from an Ost. That doesn't change the nature of the cross itself. Post war Souvals are collectable in their own right, but I think it is fair to say that Post war Souval EKs are not, simply because the company made very nice war time examples which are. It may be very useful, however, for further study.
