Gentlemen,
I just received a couple of EK2s in trade and I would like to get an opinion on the first one, the second will be in an additional post.
I usually have no problems with the items I receive from this dealer but I'm a little concerned about this particular EK2.
First of all it is a typical three piece construction with a magnetic core. It has a small unsoldered ribbon ring with an L15 makers mark (not L/15) and what appears to be a Souval "dipping three" core. Unfortunately I couldn't get good pictures of the L15, even with the macro feature on it was just too small. The frame doesn't match other Souvals I've compared it to and looks to be more of an Orth style. The attachment ring is soldered on the front but not on the back, typical of a Souval EK2.
From the things I've read concerning the L15 mark and combination of core and frame it isn't good and appears to be a post war made Souval but I would still very much like the experts to review it. Please let me know if additional pictures are needed.
If it does turn out to be a post war Souval should I return it or add it to my humble EK collection as an oddity? Also what value do these pieces have?
Thanks - in advance.
