Last try for me.
IF photo shows this cross being worn (to make this worth exploring), it appears that the first name is "Hans", the last name begins with "R", he was (at time of photo) a Leutnant in Infantry Replacement Division 152, and (if the insignia with the RK was his) ended up as an Oberleutnant in either a Panzer or Artillery (faded color?) unit. Maybe awarded RK as NCO in some other unit, then promoted? Need an army specialist and a photo technician to figure this out! (And who is Alexey Smirnov - the owner whose name appears on the photos - Russian table tennis champ?)

I can give his contact information, but if anyone is interested in my personal opinion, to prove that a non numbered award belong to somebody, if it does not hang on his neck of the Owner, it is unreal, it is all of the series ,,belive or not belive" or ,,to be or not to be".Originally posted by Leroy View PostGood to know. Perhaps Mr. Smirnov may know more of the "story" on this cross. Always a difficult process, to be sure.
On another note, the 935-4 just recently listed on the eMedals site, with the scratched details of Hans von Rohr on the reverse (hard to see as the scratching does not go all the way through the paint) has been sold.Comment

Yes and here's a better quality photo (and it is the same man). RK on November 5, 1944. (But of course, NO chance he could have scratched it himself...
