Think the story is that the wife wore the oaks as a brooch and then donated them. This is from my memory. More than a year ago I visited the museum. Highly recommended.

What I heard is the museum bought the diamond piece from Luth's widow ,not the widow donated it to the museum.

I could be mistaken but I believe from what I’ve read on the forum his family never received a posthumous diamond award.
