    Hi Tery.

Frankly I don't have much hope for your cross. It wants to be a Schinkel, which is basically a 1914 EK1 but with a 1939 core. However, it does not match any of the known originals at all (there are only two types shaped like this cross).

But who knows? We are learning new things all the time.

The only way for us to determine if yours has even the potential to be a rare original of a type not yet seen, is with good photos of the frame. This will allow us to compare the details (beading pattern) with other EK frames. In other words, we need detail, which comes from good lighting, and size.

I say this only to be helpful. Take a look here. This is the kind (light, size) of photo that would be helpful:

You don't need to get closer with your camera -- just post good pictures, bigger.

    Best of luck.
    Best regards,
    Streptile

Thanks for the input. I hate taking a haircut again but sometimes you have to take a chance. I guess my way of verifying is outdated. I tried to get larger -clearer pics. Hope these can finally make (or break) the case. Thanks.

Those are better pix, and I think you'll be hard pressed to find anybody here willing to call it original. It's just too far away from the norm. IF by some bizarre chance you could find documentation (oroginal photos, wartime receipt from a private jeweler) it MIGHT have a chance, but as a pawn-shop pickup, not likely.

Yes I agree a fake, unknown pin type, frame and beading do not match the Schinkel cross that Trev mentioned this is trying to be,

There is a seller from California (perhaps your crosses seller) that brings this type of cross to our local show, when one sells there is immediatley another put in the ryker mount just like it.

Can you return it? always view any named or inscribed EKI's as suspicious!

I bought this at the Alameda CA Antique show last month. The dealer sold high-end estate jewelry and this was in the case. Not in a mount. Maybe the same guy. I live 500 miles away in So Cal and it's a toss up whether to go to the expense to drive back up to the bay area to find the guy and go through the misery of shaming the dealer to take back an item and cough up my $250 bones. I definately won't put it back in circulation.
