My piece has brilliants (white sapphires) not diamonds which would account for the difference. Here is, hopefully, a better picture

[QUOTE=jani_tiainen][QUOTE=Brian S]The reality of the piece seems to depend on where it came from. Where did this come from?

...It is almost impposible to say anything about authenticity without knowing answer on this question....especially if this item is in United Kingdom

My sense of humor IS appreciated by some. In Seattle, we would not consider this set to be genuine. Maybe in Belgium?

Would it be stating the obvious to say it came from Germany

24141, bit of an unusual name, however don't get your hopes too high with this 'gem' as it surely is a jeweler remake that has been 'rubbed' and 'aged' to appear older and worn......stand aside for a moment and visualize the amount of times a piece like this would have been used/worn to cause the 'softness' in detail when logically ORIGINALS have been put away for years and probably w/in hours of presentation!

Please post a clear scan of the reverse. It sure isn't worthy of serious discussion without clear scans, but from what I see I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole as an original period item.

I thought I had already provided a clear scan of the reverse, however I will take new pictures tomorrow of both the obverse and the reverse and post again.

                      Thanks for your comments 24141

                        Diamonds

I personally would not not be happy with this if it was purported to be period award piece.
Perhaps you could give a little more background information as to why you consider them to be period, (if indeed you do).

I have a set just like these in silver as well as gold. They are repros, very nice repros but repros none the less. For those of us who will never be able to afford the real thing they make good fillers but that is about it. If one searches the forums one will find where these were discussed about a year ago when someone in the US had 5 sets of silver leaves and one set of gold on ebay for sale with a long story about a man in Chicago that liberated them from some SS officer or Gau leader's safe at the end of the war and had some papers from the army that documented them as captured awards or some such thing. I believe Mr. Stump weighed in on them then and posted some pics of some beautiful originals for comparison. The only difference I see between these and mine is that the rivets at the bottom are splayed instead of flattened. You can still get these from Soldat new or properly aged, cased with a ribbon.

Thankfully we have some very advanced collectors here. So we should wait for Pieter's opinion also!

Mike C, is it possible for you to post some scans of your OS&D for comparison. I will be adding some additional scans of mine very soon.

                                Thanks 24141
