I wouldn't be too concerned about that. Gordon Williamson shows a War Merit medal where the ribbon ring was attached to the wrong side of the pendant so the binding (ribbing) was at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions as well.

Contrary to popular belief the Germans were not perfect all the time.

I'm with the other folks on the front of this cross, it really looks good. The back tho does have concerns, as I too have not seen this set up on a KVK. There is something about the pin/hinge/catch setup that does look familiar to me (possibly a Brehmer set up?). With that being said, could you take some closer pics of the hinge and catch (and from different angles)? I wouldn't count this one out yet.
As for the case, I have no clue. Not my area of study.

If everything else your friends dad has he got over there is original, and he is that old, id say if he isnt a dealer of this stuff, more than likely its original...IMO, many times posting individuals dont give all the particulars .
You can tell if a person is telling the truth if you have many decades of collecting this stuff, also by the price, and its like a sick-th sense...hahah...look foreward to seeing the rest later on as time permitts. (your rap sheet is clean on the prints...hahah)

So far except for seeing the back marks , they all look authentic. cases also. If they made them with ribbing on the 3 and 9 positions , id say you are pretty safe. Im not 100% positive, but you migh want to show the backs, and try not to use the flash...maybe set them under or near a light. Im sure somebody else want to check em out closer also. Looks like a haul.

I believe the Gold Wound Badge is sitting in a case for a Silver grade, but I'm not 100% sure on the rules for these.

May we see photos of the Iron Cross?

Good original. I wouldn't say 'mint,' but anyway who likes mint ?
