The cross surely looks like a genuine Zimmermann and I think it is. I have heard of Zimmermanns without the flaw but one needs to be very careful with such a statement since sometimes people don't know where to look. But that doesn't apply to Tom.
The wreath, the rivets, the pin and the hinge are (from what the pictures show) original Zimmermann so this one seems to be one of the very, very few w/o the 11 o'clock flaw. The extremely rare L/52 I could observe had the flaw, so this is even earlier - logic tells me that it must be one of the very first made. Interesting enough, it has already the flaw in the "9".

    Very nice piece!

As this is a bit of an exeption, would you indulge us and post the catch of this piece also?
It would make the whole thread "more complete"; at least in my humble opinion.

'OU812', please don't take offense at me using your files to illustrate one more 'heavy' Zimmermann without the die flaw at 11:00...

            Robert,

Maybe I am incorrect, but, I interpreted that "OU812"'s heavy Zimmermann is the "dotted date" variety - see post #11 in that thread: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...kig+zimmermann for a better shot of the date.

              Oh,

I thought he had sold the 'heavy' (), and now had the dotted. I'm sorry if I am confused. I don't see any evidence of a dotted date on the photos of his 'heavy'.

Casey - I guess you have invested a lot of cash in this award and it is unsettling to have everyone debate if it is OK. In my humble view there are many good features that check out and the missing flaw can probably be explained, so I would not worry at this stage. Some shots of the reverse would still be interesting.

                Best wishes

                  Hi guys,

Please Casey excuse me for use you thread.

I just checked my heavy Zimmermann and I think the flaw is not there. Could you give your opinions please.

                  Thanks and best regards.

I forgot the photos of the backside of my rare heavy german cross.
