Or maybe the thread died because of lack of productive evidence for example, a named recipient or photos to compare.

Same here. I'd love to know everyone's current thoughts.

For the record, I'm of the opinion that the 800-4's are war time produced crosses. I am also of the mindset that the 800-4's could precede the 935-4 (which are accepted an accepted cross) in so far as the development of the 6-9:00 Knee Flaw.

I have handled a few immediate post war St&L B Frame crosses meant for the G.I Souvenir hunters, and they don't hold a candle to the 800-4 in terms of quality, construction, and finish.

For me, based on the evidence I have seen (Klessheim), the 800-4 is war-time, just as the 935-4 are war-time.

I'd put it closer in to the "very rare" category.

If my memory is correct, there was one 935 found in the Königbergs area, in the ground.

There was an article in my magazine about a posthumously awarded 935-4.

From my experience, by the way, the S&L A-Typ is not scarce but rather the most often encountered of all Knights Cross types.

Alright, I'll change it in my list although the source for this rarity list was a post from yourself somewhere on this forum (I think, or maybe from your book?)

I think this thread talks about S&L 800/4, then later S&L 935/4. Both are B type frame.
Wrongplanet67 askes how rare in Maerz's rarity list.
Maerz just says S&L Type A frame is scare( often encountered).
According to his list, 935/4 is rare, then probably 800/4 is the same.

S&L A-Type is common, 935-4 is rare, 800-4 is very rare.
