Not an authentic Souval IMHO
Hello,
I have owned three authentic Souval frame screw back EKI and viewed several more in photographs. All had the same obverse characteristics as a pin back Souval frame EKI with Souval (as opposed to Orth) core.
Yours lacks the 12 o'clock arm die flaw and the extended center beads in each of the eight corners don't have the same degree of separation between the beads as on the ones I have seen.
The inner beading by the swas lacks the smooth curvature of an original and a true Souval core screw back should have the Dipping 3.
I've never seen a sun ray style disc with a Souval. The ones I've seen had the smooth back with one rib across and L58 mark.
As a result I do not feel yours is an authentic period Souval.
Regards,
Stu

To the left is the cross which started the thread. To the right is the cross I have in my 'fake' file (others condemned this piece months ago). There are many similarities, and I believe the cross to the right has it's frame rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise compared to the cross on the left.Attached Files

Good info guys! I'm trying to learn here.
Robert, great pics of the side by sides. As previously mentioned it really helps those of us who are trying to learn!
Stu excellent info! I was wondering what about the beading was differnt, now that you mention it though I think I see exactly what you were talking about.
So the question is: if this isn't a Souval, is it a clearcut fake, or could it be another maker?
