No, it is certainly not what we'd expect to see in an original S&L. I think the photographic comparisons clearly show this.

The date and swastika are not sharp, nor is the beading consistent and sharp. A fake, in my opinion.

I think your right mate, i wouldnt want it for my collection. It just doesnt seem right atall.

According to his story yhey were assembled from left-over stock.
Although there was no way to verify this story, you see them popping up once in a while.

I think this might be one of them.
These crosses are dangerous to a lot of collectors.

Now that was what I was looking for to hear, I also know my cross is not acceptable next to an other L/16.

So Ben, do you also know if these were indeed S&L left overs? My gut feeling tells me the frame would be ok, but the core would be a replacement.

Giel, I think they collected left-over stock, all they could get their hands on.
All these crosses have the shallow date, so it could have been either from a worn-out die that is still in use, rejected cores, or a complete new die.

But they are usually sold as original.
Haven't seen one with a "normal" makermark, they all look as if they were struck under an angle.
Usually the L is fat, while the 6 is faint....

nice cross on the left,but its a fake on the right i think thease came from austria,as did a lot of other fakes,watch out as some are very good
