L/16 cross

Posted this cross a few years back and I didn't really made a final verdict on it, so I would like to post it again for one more review. Cross is marked L/16.

It has very convincing traces of wear and ageing but a bit of a weird date, no?

Like AndiK my first thought would also be fake, but just check out the frame of the cross, it looks very well made...

S&L's early crosses had the 'squint-eyed' 9's in the date (upper left), the later war crosses had the 'open-eyed' 9's (bottom left). Your cross is in upper right, date very faint...

Giel, this L/16 stamp (left) is on a double-stamped S&L KVKI, which I believe to be original when compared to other L/16 stamps I have seen. Your stamp to the right differs, and I don't know, and can't say for sure that it is not original.

Yes this cross is a very good work. Very dangerous work.

The core (this cruel Hakenkreuz and this strange date are not S&L.

The backside you can see often on other fakes.

Ans the smarker mark is different.

The date and swastika are not sharp, nor is the beading consistent and sharp. A fake, in my opinion.
