I would never knowingly sell a fake badge. I don´t want to say that I couldn´t make a mistake and have one for sale though.I just hope somebody would tell me about it if they saw it on my site.

I don´t think having them is dishonest, nowadays its very difficult to know every fake around. Its the way you handle it afterwards thats important I think.

      dealers

i agree, you really need to arm yourself with the knowledge of the item you intend to buy/bid.

this site has a wealth of cluded up people more than happy to give pointers, learn from the threads...then go hunting for that medal.

i use helmut weitze, always found the team prompt with answers and items always as described.

there are a lot of people who deal in out and out fakes sadly

you can go to dealers with good referrals and feedback. personally if i ever have so much as a question mark ill either ask for opinions on a piece or else give the items a miss.

the best advice is to read up study and study some more... this forum is an excellent reference and has members with a vast wealth of knowledge. for instance ive learned alot looking at threads other people have written... dons thread on imperial eks is top notch, and he and members like him are invaluable sources of information

im not enough of an expert like some of the guys here to make 100% calls all the time, and even a dealer cant be totally trusted as we all make mistakes - thats why they invented the morning after pill!

Why even Barry Turk is selling an Iron Cross that is not doubt a fake. Anyone can make mistakes.

              Hello Stephen,

I agree, anyone can make a mistake, and as Darrell has pointed out it's how they deal with it afterwards that counts. I've known Barry for some time and if you feel he has a fake EK you should tell him. Regardless if you are correct or not he would want to know. Have you done so? If you do not wish to then let me know which one it is so I can tell him. He takes pride in being one of the good dealers and will pull a bad item without hesitation.

              Regards,
              Stu

It doesn´t matter if you report him. Police?
If it was fine art he dealt with, he would be in prison I guess, but now he is dealing with militaria... 3rd Reich militaria... And then it´s all right.
If you just knew about all the big time fraude... Oh boy!

                            Hi guys
First of all, I have to say it is a really nice thread!! I learned a lot from here

as far as I am concern, the fake badges/medals have the value to exist, although, lots of collectors hate them exist...but hey guys don't forget that because of fakes we could understand how to appreciate the original ones, and how hard to fake a counterpart..doesn't it?

And because of all of the fake exist, we could have advanced players here in this forum solve rookie's problems like mine

and also we have to open a thread before we purchase...to avoid bad or unknown dealers....

                            Eric

Sod reporting him, just find out where he lives and burn his house down with him in it!

                                Markus,

I couldn't agree with you more. I have been doing business with my local miitaria dealer for about 10 years now, and I consider him to be completely honest, and for this reason: when I recently unknowingly purchased a Floch EK1 from him, and showed him the evidence in the form of the article on this forum site, he immediately agreed to take back the cross, and offered me either a full refund or full trade value on other items. As others have said here, even respected dealers are human and thus cannot know everything about the item
they sell, and as Markus here has said, it's how a dealer handles the situation that dictates whether or not he/she is honest and respectable.
