I can try and get some more pics tomorrow as I have to work soon. However I do have some comparison pics of my Godet and Zimmerman to show what I feel are the differences. First is the rear. The Godet is on the left and the hardware is of a different dimension, with the Godet having larger dimension hardware.

Steve,
I like the cross to the left, as being either the Godet or the Zimmermann. I would guess Zimmermann. Zimmermanns and Godets share the same hinge, which has longitudenal lines running parallel to the length of the hinge. Your first cross lacks this. In fact it's hinge is very smooth. Also the inner beading adjacent the swastika is very different, more like a Deumer. Your cross bears fewer beads on the frame beading. The pin on your cross is much thinner and narrower than either the Godet or the Zimmermann, IMO. And it's end is beveled, which neither Godet or Zimmermann are known for, as the photos show. I don't have files to back this up, so I'm swinging way to one side here to introduce a thought...would this cross you posted be an early Deumer? I've seen photos of them with their long narrow, thin pin, and are beveled. Also their hinge is smooth like yours. Please take a look at this L/11 KVKI Deumer's pin assembly. Does it match your crosses?

You may have something there. I have an unmarked Duemer with the copper plated core. The catch on the Duemer and the Zimmerman I have are different. The hinges are the same but attached in opposite direction of each other. What I thought was rust on the swaz on the alleged Zimmerman may be another copper coating actually. My Godet is marked L/50. Maybe I have another unmarked Duemer instead of a Zimmerman.

I'm working on digging up some old threads dealing with early Deumers...

And here's the rear of my Duemer. I originally thought this was a Grossman. I had two new crosses arrive today, the other was a 1914 EK2, that I thought was maker HW, but turned out to be SW, which I have. Now I have 2 duplicates in one day! The dates on my Duemer and my new cross are about the same too. Now what do I do?Attached Files

I think every time you buy a marked EKII, whether it's a WWI or WWII, you take a gamble. I just bought a 132 from Barry which he thought was a 142. So it's more duplicates, more crosses. Everyone's eyesight is just not what it used to be. I love your last cross you posted. It's got real character.

That Duemer I posted last was my first 39 EK1 and still one of my favorites. It just looks awesome. I believe I have a duplicate of it now. I had a look at the Zimmerman/Duemer that arrived today with a loup and I think it may be copper plating showing through on the swaz, not rust at all. There are other minute traces on the core also. You do take your chances with any marked piece that's for sure. I guess I'll keep this latest Duemer. The plated core makes it interesting for sure. 140 Euros everything included was a good deal for it too. Thanks for the help. It would be nice to hear from few more people.

Steve - can you post some closeups of your hinge and catch, as well as a closeup of the dates, please? I'm trying to find the maker for an EKI myself right now, thanks for posting the links to the threads, Robert - in the third thread link:

AJ posted a cross that was identified as a Deumer, the hardware seems very smooth, and I'd like to see more early DEUMER hardware closeups whoever can post it from his database if somehow possible!
In other words, what is this one here:Attached FilesLast edited by R. Schmitt; 08-14-2007, 05:54 AM.
