ICI for me, simple and says alot with out being loud.

Never cared for the 'Hitler's Fired Egg' myself though I did own a few at one time.

As for the name, apart from the resemblance of what a fired egg would look like if served to Hitler, I think it got this name very quickly as there were a lager number of servicemen who were nominated for the KC in 41 only to be arbitrarily denied the KC and received this one instead so I think they would be rather pissed.

Don't know all the details myself perhaps some of our other fourm members can enlighthen me on it

The "fried egg" DK's are a bit too gaudy, but I wouldn't say no to one !!

I agree. I think the best looking awards are the Iron Cross series, the Knight's Cross in particular.

The DKiG is of very nice design , but on a uniform the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves is really stunning.

My wife always called my medals "medals" until I got a DKiG. Then they became "men's jewelry!" I still like the DKiG anyway!

Well, if that is the best they can do, I am not too concerned. I guess the fakers really figure the buyers will never see a real one anyway.

I am not wound tightly, I just hate seeing the fakers profit from the sale of fakes. On these forums, everyone seems to dislike those who make their living selling fakes. Somehow, supporting them just seems wrong.

There is room for reproductions, even medals such as this. Too bad that many will be sold by crooks as the real thing to those who don't know what an original should look like. I suppose they wouldn't mark them as reproductions because no one would buy one, would they????

Well, luckily, they didn't get close enough in design or construction, so they should not pose a great danger to the collecting community. I wonder if we will be seeing them on Ebay "just as found in General Baeder's footlocker".

The problem is that with state of the art computer technology, fakers could do it 100% right, with that its not hard. You can copy all the flaws, and totally everything.

While I voted for the DKig (though I'm really more of a silver person), and I find "star" medals very attractive, I must say I really like the order of the German Eagle. Sort of harkens back to the PLM in a very dignified way.

I like the design of the DKiG but its a bit too blatantly "Nazi" for me with that huge swastika.

I know what you mean, it does seem to be sort of in your face Nazi. Yet (and for some reason I feel sort of guilty for saying this), the swastica is just so alluring. In fact it was probably what drew me to German Militaria when I was a kid.
