George...please note! I'm asking in a calm and civil manner

Brian, please, show a picture of the dent row on your Cross! I'd like to look at the depth, sharpness and number of dents (visible) and compare it to other Crosses including the early or even later '57 (S&L war time die/framed) Crosses... a shot of the front and back would be great as that could indicate nice normal, even wear!
      Regards,
      Dave

If you want to get into a discussion of Brian's cross, I wish you would start a new thread.

To what end? The thread started out discussing a very nice Cross and was eventually re-directed by Brian in to a discussion about (his) Cross...He has suggested that ALL 935/4 are post war and asserted that my 935/4 was mint...I have answered (civily) with pictures to demonstare that's not the case at all and now only ask the same level of courtesy.....

          I'd like to compare!
          Regards,
          Dave

            Brian,

I had Dave's cross for some time for the article. The cross is not worn in the sense of some heavily worn crosses I've seen but it is defintetely not mint. All the frosting is gone on the beading hills and there's also some damage to the polished rim.

And, I do not think that one can remove some dents by buffing the very, very small area of the dent row. It wasn't done with the 935-4's I've seen and that was the "star' of S&L in the very last year(s). Furthermore, the buffing would leave traces to see.

Here's another area of Dave's cross that shows what I mean.

35 years of handling will have the same effect on any silver piece Dietrich. There is no sign this cross was 'worn', just weathered in a badly stored area and handled, with an old ribbon glommed on it.

It is not mint like "mint and in a box for 60 years" as other crosses we have seen. That's all. I'm surely not in a position to judge what wear is correct and what is not. We've been there multiple times without conclusion.

Here's a 50+ year vet 'drawer' find! Let's not try and mix 'wear', 'age' and 'conditions' to justify something

Just show the dent row Brian! (please!)

Let's be clear about something here Dave. I will not "show you" anything. I don't need YOUR feedback or YOUR analysis. We clear on that?

                                It's clear enough to me.
