    e-Stand Spangen

The Second Class Spangen being offered here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=109818 have been brought to my attention. Are they good/bad? Discuss.

Well, I hate to say it, but I believe the L/16 is an out and out fake, and been doing the rounds for years. I have never seen an original L/16 spange ( although I have a stickpin!) I've seen ones that look pretty convincing, but still very dubious IMHO.
The unmarked one is a strange one. We have had a member show this style before, and it was given the by the powers that be. I cannot remember who proved it to be real, but I have a pic of it in my 'real' files...

I have a spange that was discussed here and fell into the L16 debate. This spange looks different again. Does anyone have an authentic L/16 spange? George, you have a number of spangen, do you own one?

The unmarked one with the weird looking date is definitely 100% original. They appear in untouched groupings.
The L/16 one is difficult, but I would give it a chance, I personally like it.
        Cheers, Frank

I agree that the second example is good.
Here, for ease of discussion, is the "L/16."

I´m curious on the result of the discussion.

I had this clasp in my own collection for several years now and I never had any doubt about it ....

Of course, as long as there is no clear for this clasp, is it no longer for sale.

            Best wishes

            Joerg

I think that the concern over this Spange is due to its resemblance to this well-known fake. Note the similarities between the uneven spaces between the eagles' heads and their wings, the asymmetry of the lower wing feathers, and the shapes of the date numbers.

let me get this clear then...
Frank and George, you both agree this L/16 on estand is 100% correct?

this is a new one one me, so excuse me for being suspicious! and 'possibly' incorrect in my initial posting!
                regards

                  Imo

No, I don't think that the e-Stand Spange is correct. I think that it's an example of the fake I posted.

I think this says a lot about L/16 Spanges. I have one also that does not match the one offered on E-stand. The one I have looks just like the one determined to be good on this thread.

The one on E-stand is not the same as the one in "Iron Time" as well.

                              Do not see it.

The picture posted by George Stimson of the L/16 currently being offered by Helmut Weitze, I can not see the makers mark at all.
