Friedrich-August "Fritz" Meyer...Yes he was a member of the OdR. He passed away on 4 Jan. 1971. He is listed in George Peterson's HG book also, with some war time pic's. My OdR books show him as an early member in good standing and of course a verified RK winner. The war time photos show him wearing all the decorations accept the RK. That's all I can offer on him. Long suspension loop

I have found photos dating from as early as 1978 showing the "Long" type suspension loop for the RK being worn by OdR members. So now at least we know they have been around for awhile and not something new. Tom

This is great information Tom, thanks for posting it.............more credibility to the later produced RK's !
The earliest I have with a long suspension loop is early 1990's.......perhaps the longer loops were additional extras, for ease of wearing with the tailored cravat type ribbons we see veterans wearing with dinner suits ? just a thought......

Hi Steve, I think you are 100% correct on your thought. When I visited the S&L shop in 1988 I purchase 2 RK's & 2 sets of Oakleaves. (all were marked 800) and both the RK's came with the long loop, sandblasted frames & non magnetic cores. They are beautiful...great solid constructed frames an superb after construction pain jobs. Quality all the way for this type. Un-cased $28.00 each on the RK's & un-cased $17.00 each on the OL's. I still have them, and wish I had purchased more. Tom

Was the Luftwaffe member eligible to receive the RK on the 9th may 45. Or was this just when he received the medal awarded before this date?

Harald was a Captain in the Estonian Army and has always been honoured by the Estonian Army and State , at least since independance !!

These were not "later" crosses. I've seen these "long" loops on many 1st pattern core RK's. I believe they were an optional item that could be purchased, but ended up on all the S&L RK's later on.
