                        Gents,

                        I think the BGS General shown in post #862 may be General Gerhard Matzky who commanded the 21. Infantry Division on the Eastern Front in WWII and was Inspector General of the BGS from 1951 and subsequently I. Korps Commander of the Bundeswehr from 1957-60.

                        Here are some photos of Matzky.

                          I do not think it is Matzky because Matzky is a RK wearer and got as I know no DK.

                                If anybody is interested in: Max Zastrow wrote a book about his war experiences, it´s called: Max Zastrow, der Gefeite mit dem Ritterkreuz, but it´s very rare. http://ritterkreuz.heimat.eu/max/max_info.htm
