Thanks for showing your examples Daniel
Which leads me nicely on to the 2nd class.
    EK2..........
Without the ever changing hardware of the 1st class, the EK2's are a lot easier to follow!
Like the 1st class, the 2nd also started with the Souval wartime frame, and the majority of pieces will have that frame! These can also be found with both magnetic and non-magnetic cores!!
This first cross is a typical example of an early Souval and is mounted on an Austrian tri-fold ribbon, which many are, often with a safety pin to attach the medal to a jacket.....

Heres a closer look at the core and frame, with the typical Souval features we saw in the 1st class.
Some of these EK2's are MM'd L/58 on the ribbon ring, while others are unmarked075.jpg

This is an example of a similar cross, but mounted on a normal style ribbon, like the first class, the early examples are glued together not soldered!!

The only major change or variant came towards the end of production when, like the 1st class, they switched to the S&L style frame.
This cross has the S&L frame, and also the pink colored tri-fold ribbon which can sometimes be found (Daniel's example also has this ribbon)......

Again, heres a closer look at the core and the S&L style frame........077.JPG
Many Souval EK's can be found in Austrian veterans groupings, ofetn with other Souval pieces and also S&L's, Deumers etc.
Heres one last photo of a Souval EK2 on a medalbar, combined with an S&L Ostmedal.....080.JPG
If anyone else has any examples, please feel free to post them here!!
          Thanks -Nigel

Thank you very much Nigel and Daniel for sharing your Souval EK's with us!

Beautiful pieces, that while not specifically 1957, New Form items, they fit well in the family.
