    Wayne, my friend ...

If there is one thing I can enjoy looking at ... its an 1st pattern core S&L RK.
And I must say, for a "C" frame you have picked and exceptional looking piece.

Not sure if you know, but you have the "C" frame which already shows the "bleeding flaw" on the 9 o'clock arm ( see red circle ).
Up till now I have only seen it on 2nd pattern core S&L RK's ... hence a scarcer variant on the "C" frame which is still missing from my collection .

Thanks for sharing ... please, do post more close-ups of this lovely piece.

      Thanks Mathijs.

I knew it was a C frame but didn't realize there was more to it.

      I've just started collecting 57ers.

      Bitten by the bug already.

Only have 5 pieces. The RK, EKI, EKII and a bronze and silver IAB.

Never seen on 57er RKs ??

                  Good question.

Maybe some of the more experienced 57 collectors could enlighten us.

                    interesting RK!!!
The loop i think must be a later replacement? ( unless its a wartimer)
There are a couple of things about the RK, including the combo of 1st pattern core with a well flawed C frame, that makes me think this could possibly be a later piece made from various leftover parts, Mathijs already has examples of this, including a B and a C frame on the same cross!!!
Still a great RK, and even more interesting because of the unusual mix!!!!

Any educated guesses as to the period of manufacture?

I'd say early to mid 60's, if i'm right about it being a combination of the, then current production C frame, coupled with an earlier 1st pattern core!
If the C frame appeared earlier than i thought, then it could be late 50's early 60's, i'd like to hear what the other guys think??
Looking at the photo's, the core paint, especially on the reverse looks a little later than the finish found on the very early pieces??

                          Thanks Nigel.

                          57's are interesting for sure.

Looking at the width of the loop, I assume its a modern reproduction ( you can find them on eBay ).
I have not yet come across a "800" marked loop on the 57ers ... normally they come with a slim silver plated loop.

By the way .... would that be the one which sold on e-stand some time ago by Trevor ?

                              It was.

                              We did a swap.
