Although I really like Ranger stuff, alas, I have scant few items!!
The 6th ranger Bn was the only US Ranger unit to serve in the PTO.
Here are two Great sites about that elite unite. One giving the history of its formation, and the other a detailed (and worthy of a read) account of the ‘famous’ Cabanatuan prison camp raid.
Oh, theater made Ranger insignia....somebody should have said so.
OMG I'm in love... 6th Ranger Battalion SSI, will you marry me?
As an aside, in all of my years collecting I had only seen ONE original, theater-made 6th Ranger SSI. Now, you blow that away with 3!! Awesome! & Thanks for sharing!!!
Most know of the 2nd Ranger Bn and its D Day participation; specifically that of “D”, “E” and “F” companies and their assault of the cliffs at Pointe du Hoc.
Lesser known is the ‘obscure’ action the battalion (two of the same companies, “D” & “F”), took part in on the 3rd anniversary of Pearl Harbor in the Huertgen Forest near Bergstein, Germany.
The battle for ‘Hill 400” (Castle Hill) might truly be the 2nd Ranger’s finest moment!
