          As mentioned, the foliage is folded in the same technique as mine (edges folded inward and the knot). As a result, I was having difficulty (like in mine) finding an example of the edge of the foliage. It was not until I went to the back of the helmet that I found this:

            Closer examination showed....serrated edges like mine, Scott's and Don's!

              So, this additional IJN helmet also appears to have screw pine leaves attached as camo!

                Folded like omikuji [fortune papers from a shrine], or notes passed to boy/girl friends in high school [me!]. This is a well-known method of tying paper (or camouflage, I guess!] to something.

                    Very nice find, Walter! Looks like screwpine to me. Tied in a way similar to your helmet. Too bad we don’t know where it was picked up.

                      It’s great to see this thread come back to the surface again. Excellent research and wonderful helmets shown - the additional helmet shown by Walter adds more weight, I believe, to these all being genuine pieces.
