I am just a beginner when it comes to Imperial items, but it looks to me like a wartime overcoat with M1910 buttons replacing what should have been M1915 (crown buttons without the rim). Otherwise, looks good and original! (I was shocked at how fast items have sold on their site! I wanted to see how much the segeltuchtasche was, but by the time I woke up it was already gone! Like 5 hours after being listed..)

It,s a M15 Transitional before the standard late 1915 was introduced with pleated back with or without the green collar.
Buttons are correct for this coat its not a Bavarian as the add states to my mind which among other things have lion buttons.
                Good luck W
I,ve found this site very popular but a bit on the expensive side. Neat imperial items sell fast ie:
I went for a rare MGSs badge by Falkenburg & Richter within a few minutes but was already sold.

It is difficult to make out the Bekleidungs Amt stamp, but this Mantel looks correct for a Bavarian issue Mantel, the buttons should be M15, as M10 buttons were not used on M15 coats, I have a Bavarian Mantle with Bavarian buttons, but the general opinion is that these were added later, and that Bavarian M15 coats should have the M15 buttons.

So no real concerns as to it being a repro? Maybe buttons were replaced war time?
About 100 over what I've seen other great coats go for but I've been on the hunt for one for a while.

                        Hey Jerry,
No kisses and hugs here please

I think there is no question about this Mantel being authentic, one would have to hold it in their hands to be 100% sure, but AGM is one of the most reputable businesses around, I never worry about ordering something from them. That does not mean they do not make mistakes, but they back up what they sell. As far as when the buttons were replaced, there is no way to tell for sure, but I have two M15 Mantels with M1910 buttons.

Here is mine with the same buttons. To me they look original to the Mantel pictured below and not replaced. The Matel on left has the Later M15 buttons, which to me look replaced at one time or another, but that is another story.

As far as the 1910 buttons go on a Bavarian Mantel, technically they should be the ones with the Bavarian rampant lion vs the crown. I tend to think that sometimes things got mixed up back then.

                            Beautiful
                            Yes,
Bavarian mantels in my collection all had lion buttons original to the coats. M10 buttons on greatcoats were still being used in 1918.
The familar M15 painted job first showed up in summer 1915. Mix and match I guess, there was a War on.
I just noticed the mantel William posted has postwar modified cuffs?

Post war modified? I thought the add for it stated no altercations?

Eric who's Guss? And Do you think you used to own the mantle in question? Lets Wrap it up since i called in payment but asked them not to ship for 4 days as I will be away in PA soon.
