Thanks for the comments. These are three of a thirteen piece collection of issue feldgrauer Feldmützen that I assembled in the the 1980s. I just happened to have photos of these on hand when I ran across this thread. I haven't picked up a new one in years. One sees very few quality pieces available these days. Other caps of note are a Prussian Verkehrstruppen type (black band, red piping) marked to a Feld-Luftschiffer-Abteilung, a white piped Dragoner Rgt. Nr.10, I.R.75 marked cap with Bremen cockade,
and both Prussian and Bavarian Einheitsmützen.

Chip, sounds like you did very well when the picking was good. The 80's were a great time and mutze's were pretty available and the pricing was real good. I agree, mutze's are tough now and the prices keep getting pulling away. Thanks for sharing your collection!! Mike.

There are a lot of us out here! This is an odd photo, there are actually three shelves 21 feet long, so I had to take four photos just now and merge them. Anyway, you get the idea.

                Tony,

You are getting to be an expert with that Photoshop! Nobody really has that many caps.

                    kuerassier7,

Any markings in the cap? I tried your website, but there were no other detailed photos of this cap.

Nicve caps guys! I got into the game so late I don't have any soft caps or even a halb.

Those caps cost more then steel now. Unless I get really lucky I am afraid I'll never see one.

At my 'gigs' Iam forever being asked if Iam wearing an original mutz.
                          Looks good after 22 yrs!!
While it would,nt fool anyone on this thread, its just a note of warning, there are fakes out there. These hats are starting to command high prices.

Too bad they used a synthetic material on the red band. I don't think old wool pills like that.
