This is the Ebay one I was talking about. The detail looks correct from what I saw here but the backing is not like the examples here. It has a solid metal baking. Is this a verient or a fake?

FYI I am not going to be bidding no matter the case. Just wanted to learn a bit.

Methinks this thread is long enough to become a sticky?

Your 100% right my friend. Dons superb work on these badges is second to none in Imperial collecting, Ive never seen anything close to the information contained in this thread, anywhere.
Don, you are the Tops with me.

They want 185.00 for it. Is that the going rate? I am just curious. Feel free to reserve it whoever might want it. For that kinda money I'll stick with helmets and field gear.

William, That one is an unmarked Falkenburg & Richter.

Eric, the badge you posted above looks good to me. I don't have one like that to compare it to for a manufaturer though.

                    Hello eric,

for me, this badge isn't good; i don't like the wool and other thinks.

A question, some times i have ever seen bagdes with wool in other colour than fieldgrey. I have seen in green (nearly like the colour of the feldbluse 15), more green and black......do you know why there are different colours????

For exemple, one badge in black, no maker behind, and a original picture with a saxon soldier (a pionier).....Is-it to make a difference with other unit?

                        Don,
have you ever heard of a cloth MGSs Badge?
I remember early last year seeing one for sale on a German Dealer site. I think it was about 400 euros!!
It was red or might have been a dark orange on black backcloth. Supposed to be German Navy?

Weitze shows them periodically. I have no info on them and have never seen a pic of one in wear.

I do know that a recent 'rash' of a certain type of copy usually has green and green/grey (M15) cloth backing. Interesting badge you have with the black cloth, my Mini Badge has blue cloth.

I see these all the time at reenactments. Now there being peddled as original!
