Gents,
I,ve been spending evenings looking at a lot of MG unit photos. I,ve noticed for the first time the different placing of the MGSs badge on the left sleeve. There is a noticeable difference between some units. From about 4"down the sleeve to worn on the forearm as in this shot. How proud they are, and allways making an effort to show the Badge rateing its importance above their Iron Crosses, even in big group shots when just a few are attached to a regular Infantry Regiment.
Anyway, I found it interesting, or maybe I need to get out more!

Nice photo. They were proud of the badge. Next to artillery, the MGs were the big killers of the war.

Looking at the guy with the ribbon thru his buttonhole, I'm thinking these guys are possibly Wuertemburgers.

Hi Don,
I also found this nice picture of a gunner set up for anti aircraft. Looks like he,s fired a few rounds. Does,nt seem to bother the cow though!

Another ebay badge!

Is it fair to say a quick ref on a copy is the grips having no gap as in this example sold today on ebay.de?

More often than not I would say yes. You have to remember that the trimming process included the grips and you may find a good one that missed this step.

MGSs Badges

Sir,
I,ve been collecting this wonderful badge for years off and on. Since seeing this fantastic thread I,ve weeded out these I consider bad. Opinions?
If I was a rat I could slap them on ebay and go on a nice holiday! What do you think?
