Sorry Don,
I tried but it turned to mush!
There is one thing I notice, they did,nt allways just push the prongs through
the cloth and apply the backing plate sometimes they tacked stitched them to
Tunics and greatcoats.
Gents,
I was going through all the great info to check all my badges and I noticed on page 18 one with a cloth backing.
I know these, they were made by GWM oh maybe 20yrs ago for reanactors. They were never sold as originals by Rick and Dean. The ink stamp on the back say,s Chambersburg in German with GWM underneath. So be careful out there in collecting land!
And thank you to everyone for the time and trouble on this fascinating thread.
I,am out 4 examples ($875) expensive lesson!!
Don,
I,ve been looking all over the site for that great thread by the gent who had the MGSs photos of I think the 16th Abt.
I remember looking at it a few months ago, any ideas?
Hi Don,
GWM is Great War Militaria out of chambersberg Pa.
You can also see them on Great War Assocation site under Venders.
I was checking this site out as a quest earlier this year when I saw the thread
There was about 12 great photos all from one MGSs Abt. I believe it was the 16th.
It was such a great thread I was wanting to download the pictures.
What can you tell me about him? I don't know much about the Imperial German Army at all. I have it in mind to find a photo of Mg.Ss.Abt.13.2.Kp and have this erkennungsmarke framed up with it, along with a MG badge, which is the subject of this thread. Does anyone know what happened to Sonnenschein? Is he mentioned in the unit history for the above MG unit?
Can anyone help?
Although the tag is in two halves, they are matching. The photo doesn't do the joining line between the halves much justice as the edges have been buckled.
