And, this is an insignia not a qualification badge. If you were on the MG team, you wore this badge. Not that you didn't have to get qualified to BE on the MG team.

Here's one from my collection I thought those interested in the subject would like to see. Notice the guy in the center showing off both arms, he has a "medic's" patch on his right.

Nice pic Tim. Notice how thick the front legs are and how the left front leg overlaps the belt of ammo that comprises the outer circle. Small openings in the trailing legs. Can't get much clearer than this.

Here's the maker mark a bit closer up, I'm not very good at this lark.

I can send anyone larger pic's they can play with and do as they see fit for the future/now.......just use any pic's I post any time for any reason please.

Very interesting Marcus. I have a hard time reconciling the wear to the finish with the condition of the cloth. Are there remenants or residue on the cloth backing? Why is the finish on the reverse worn more than the finish on the front? Can you show the other side of the backing plate since you have it off?
                        Just food for thought.

Arh, this is a dodgy sign me thinks ! I was about to fly to Ireland before I posted this, and never really looked at the backing the plate properly, or even contemplated it this morning.

The felt/uniform material is adhered to the metal plate via means of what looks like 'double sided sticky tape' (not takeing the pi$$, you American guys understand that, sticky tape being cellotape........I don't know what you guys call it)

And even better than, as typing the above I just pulled it back further and found a marker pen X, I think this confirms some doubts. Before I were to send this back, would this be of use to any of you guys Don and Brian as a piece in hand ? Talk between the pair of you, and it's your if you so desire free....not a penny. Just keep doing what you on the forum Your time and help on this has been most appreciated.

Marcus, if you can get your money back do it. If not I would like to look at it and compare it to mine. I'm sure Brian might want to do the same.
                            Thanks
