...And here's a new one to me, and to the club. This is the same type Willi shows (welcome to the club Willi, and congratulations ). Silver, three-piece, blackened cast iron core with step-sides, later 30mm ribbon. I would date this piece to after 1835, when there was still a great need for iron crosses among veterans.Best regards,
Streptile

In this angled view, you can see the core's step.
Also interesting to note is that this piece has the same frame as Kay's in post 3 -- a frame which I know was used by Godet (but I do not know whether it was used exclusively by Godet) for both 1813 EKs (of both classes) and 1870 EKs (of at least 2. Class). This one has the squared-off jumpring lug, very typical for EKs with this type of core. This lug can also be seen on Tony's in post 14, and was on Willi's before the (very common) repair on his. The square lug is present with this core, it seems, no matter which actual frame die was used.
Finally a shot of both crosses together.Best regards,
Streptile

Here's my small contribution to the club. It has the same "square cut out by jumpring" as Tonys and maybe Aliks too. One of the frame halves has been cut for the jumpring to attach. This also makes the jumpring very fragile, as seen on some 1813 Prinzen that got repaired jumprings.
It also got a 'scrunched bead' that is found on at least 8 others, actually all crosses i got on file exept one that is too worn. More about that later.Last edited by Roglebk; 09-17-2012, 04:58 PM.
