Display room still not ready but can anyone advise on when the various type of German ammo belts (WWI) came into service? ie the brass to metal variations.

      Maxim belts

      Mark,
At some point during the war due to brass shortages the germans started making belts steel mounted. My guess is late 16 early 17. All dated 08/15 100 round drum belts I,ve seen are steel mounted. That does,nt mean to say you wont find a late dated belt in brass the priority was to use steel.
Nice collection, it looks like you got the lot!!

Superb MG08/sled Eric - and great colour. TY for info on belts - I am still looking for 100 rd 08/15 belts and have never seen any.
Like the vickers there are many many accessories and I am far from locating all WWI items - for MG08 and MG08/15.

I will send an email ref armour etc in due course.

Very nice. I need a standard pistol hand grip/trigger and plate with the two mounting pins for a display copy if anyone has one.
