Stefas - Thanks again for posting the back of your medal. It has been interesting doing a side by side comparison of the posted pictures that depicts the uniquiness of Mike's and Stefas' version of the friendship medals.

                Stefas,

These Certificates are really nice. The awards are very high, and the person is someone who is known and that can be related to, along with her personal achievements and accomplishments. You are acquiring actual history, and not just collecting. And by posting it here on this thread, you are permitting all of us to relive past historical events. Thank you.

                  Wasn't there a General Dickel?
Is this his wife or sister?

Thanks Michael,I'm always interested in the story behind these persons.A medal is a medal, but with documents/pictures and awards gives it much more.
This female should be married with the brother off VOPO chief F.Dickel.Thats what I've been told. She's a close relative off F.Dickel.

Stefas - Thanks for posting the additional documents and photo, well worth the viewing. Can you tell what medals she is wearing during the ceremony?

DSF is an interesting organization indeed. By the way, who were given this banner?
It says "carrier of the honor badge" and thus refers to some DSF badge but which one? The one that you have or some other? Given with various badges?

What about this one? I own one of these and it would be nice to know more. The one I posted above is for sale and I'm planning to buy it.

So as not to hi-jack this outstanding thread about the Friendship Star. I have started a new thread talking about foreign awards presented to East German citizens. I have moved the posts that were in this thread over to the new thread.

Here is the link to the thread...Thanks.

Hello all - I thought I would revive this outstanding thread about Friendship Stars.

A friend of mine sent me this picture showing a person being invited to the Palast der Republik to receive his Friendship Star in silver. Hope you enjoy the invite document.

Hello all - I have revived this great thread with a medal from my collection...I found it in my bunker. :-)

I have also included a couple of other older threads that discussed the Friendship Star. I would be interested in learning if fellow collectors have added this medal to their collection since these threads were created.
