              It is actually a 1963 dated Grenztruppen der NVA wool EM tunic.... although it is very heavily bleached from use. Fear not though, this destruction of state property was caused not by my displays but came to me this way- it has done is valient service in the name of Progressive Socialism defending the Staatsgrenze.
              Funny you should mention keeping the flag flying... there was a large group of medieval German merceneries, and one of the ladies in the group does custom embroiderie and the like as a profession, and even made their version of a Truppenfahne... I think you can see where this is going


              By the way, your lack of Political Perception has been noted in your reference to the MPi-41 as a PPsh-41

                Here is another picture I received from a friend this morning.

                Note the happy smile of a Good German, and not the aggresive smirk of a provacative Bonn Gangster.

                I happen to very much like this order of dress unique to the Grenztruppen in Berlin. I am actually considering basing my unit off the one to actually serve there, and I think it is a good idea for a variety of reasons. One being the Berlin Wall is much more well known than the rest of the border which makes it much easier for the general public to comprehend, two I can do this order of dress and other unique ones, and three it seems the officer quality items are just as common if not more common than the wool enlisted. Plus, I imagine it would be much easier to find information on compared to other units.

                      A short story of something that happened at the event.

                      I was sitting in my chair trying to catch some shade when a family with a little girl a few years old came strolling by. The little girl wandered into the confines of my deployment area, and then bent down to pick up a small little flower growing in the grass. She then came up to me and handed it to me with a smile on her face.
                      So, i did the only acceptable thing a Defender of the Worker's and Farmer's Power can do and accepted it and put it on the end of my weapon complex.

                      It was a very touching moment and as I thanked the young girl and her family I explained how such a similar scenario took place between Soldaten and Jungepionier

                      It was something certainly very unexpected and kind of made me well up inside

                      HURRAH HURRAH HURRAH!

                              David - You read my mind. Altough I enjoy seeing and reading about RedBaran11's Grenztruppen re-enactment portrails, I cringe a bit when I hear some of the tired old East German Agitprop creeping in the conversation. Maybe that's because I'm an old Cold Warrior who can still remember the Innerdeutsche Grenze as well as the antifaschistische Schutzwall and the hundreds of lives that were lost in various escape attempts. Or the thousands of East German citizens that were imprisoned for the offense of Republikflucht.

                                Genosse, A Kinder defecting to the Workers and Farmers Wonderland is understandable of course, her attempted unlawful leaving and the unpleasantness that will occur would be unfortunate.

                                If her Papers are in order there will be little delay, as she surrenders all her unused Marks at the Crossing Point.
