Has it to do with the Polish units fighting on the Western Front from June 44 onwards?

The only link I currently remember between the SU and English speaking countries would be the convoys to Murmansk and Archangelsk and I would expect sailors on a medal for these heroes/veterans.

Getting warmer... You're right that it's a Corps badge, and it's for veterans, so it's technically a jubilee badge. What do you mean by "mixed"?

It does make sense, and that's partially true, in a sense, as one of the nationalities in the unit was a country before WW2, and a state after the War.

As far as it having to do with Cuba, there's no connection that I know of.
