Hi Gordon,
I was thinking I need to do the same thing. I'll try and take pictures this weekend.
Looking at this picture again, I think the loader is wearing the specialized Luftlande trousers. This was also made in 1956 and was more similar to the standard Splittertarn trousers, except that it had two rear pockets each with one snap closure instead of a button. I think I see exactly that in this picture. The other major difference is straps to close the ankles, similar to what we can see on the soldier's sleeves.
Now, as far as I know this type of trousers are called Luftlande simply because LL Div tested them out, not because they were explicitly made for them. But maybe they were, I don't know. But if the picture is of GJ, and the back of the photo does imply that, then it seems that the uniform was tested (even if unofficially) by GJ as well as LL.
In fact, the GJ and LL trousers share similar features except that the GJ trousers are short and the LL ones long. So it is possible that the jacket was the same for both.
Interesting!
For me, the Holy Grail (impossible to find) items for Splittertarn are:
1. GJ (or perhaps LL or perhaps both) jacket as seen in this picture
2. "Reverse Broad Splinter" trousers (I have never even seen a picture of one, but it most likely exists as I have the jacket and hood)
3. FJ "Green Splinter" trousers
4. Broad Splinter snow trousers
5. Palm leaf (related to Splittertarn) snow set of top and bottom
6. Wehrmacht colored Splittertarn set (I know of one jacket, so I assume trousers too)
7. Late model Splittertarn trousers with integrated leg ties
As far as I know these are the only items I lack, but I don't think I have much of a chance of getting except for #7. I've seen a couple of those for sale, but have not been successful in landing one.
