A close up of the officers cap. Good comparison with the enlisted one on my uniform. The embroidered insignia shows well. The insignia on my cap appears to be metal.

Gents - This Schleswig-Holstein M-43 style cap featuring a "BEVO" style state emblem and roundel is currently available on Manion's.

Not a dagger hanger, those clips are used to attach the pistol holster which was fed through the pocket. Thats why the pocket is reinforced. There should be two clips, which match to the d-ring loops of the holster.

If I can ever track down my box of leather gear (which has been packed away for 5 years) I will try and remember to take a photo of a traditional period setup.

Yes, Andrew is correct that this is a pistol holster slot and hanger on the right side of the tunic. There was also a strap attachment that was worn over the shoulder that the pistol could be clipped to. This way the pistol could be worn exposed outside the tunic pocket or concealed under the tunic. Many of the postwar police holsters will have a loop and D ring attachment to facilitate wear on either a belt or clips.

Thanks once again Andrew! You have been a huge help to me (and others).

Originally this tunic was posted in "Zoll Uniforms" thread but it has been suggested that is actually Bayern Polizei tunic. If so, it is missing rank insignia on collar tabs and the sleeve patch. I had thought Bayerische uniforms were more grey-green than green but I will see what others may think. Unfortunately no labels but dates from late 1960s or early '70s.

                regards

My pleasure to help out in anyway I can.

By the way, this jacket is not missing any insignia on the Kragenspiegel. It is for the rank PK/A (Polizeikommissar / Anwarter) and it's the correct color for Bavaria.

Thanks! It appears I have another pre-1976 Polizei uniform! It is interesting to see contrast among all the Bundesländer.

I believe they wore sleeve patch with "POLIZEI BAYERN" on it though. Cannot find traces of it - maybe was not sewn on?

                        regards

They could have worn several different patches, including: Bayerische Landespolizei, Bereitschaftspolizei or Grenzpolizei.

                            1969 Bahpolizei Hauptsekretär

A little backround on the Bahnpolizei: formed to provide security at facilities operated by BRD's national railroad, Deutsche Bundesbahn. When DB was privatised around 1992 or so, they were absorbed by BGS and are now part of the Bundespolizei since 2005. Think this was due to the fact that private entities cannot have armed forces under German law.

I had been looking for Bahnpolizei items for some time but they hardly ever come up for sale anywhere. This is 1969-dated example of Bahnpolizei Hauptsekretär. Rank is displayed on the sleeve along with "DB Bahnpolizei" patch. This style of tunic was used from late 1960s-early '80s I think. Tie was included with tunic but looks like TRAPO tie to me.

                            regards
                            Klaus

Lining - actually there is no lining except where pockets and armholes are. Probably summer weight tunic. Large label reads "Mainleus, Echt Kulmbacher".

Maker's label. Maker is "Uniform Blitz" and dated 1969.

Bahnpolizei items are very tough to find. In all my years of collecting I can only recall one trading partner who was with the Bahnpolizei. Although I scored big when I physically visted one of the stations in Germany.

Can you show a closeup of the patch ?

                                Klaus,

Very nice Bahnpolizei tunic. I to would like to see a closeup of the patch. I have a Bahnpolizei tunic in storgare but I can not remember what the arm badge looked like but I beleive it was different than yours. mProbably a later issue tunic.

                                Regards,
