          Gents - Here's a picture of two early BGS canteens. The one on the left is unmarked; the one on the right is marked "CFL 51" on the cup, bottle neck, and strap.

                I purchased this a month or so ago. I believe it is early example of elusive BGS Schiffchen like in one of TJ's photos. Cap is classic BGS graugrün (but looks more grey in photo) with embroidered kokarde. Seems to be undated - 56 is probably the size, as it is small.

                It could also be Zoll, but I do not know if they wore Schiffchen. I do know that Perküro made Feldmützen for BGS in the 1950s I have an example.

                        Interior of the tunic has a green silk liner ; the outer , right hand lower pocket has the button sewn to the flap and a reach-through opening slot is provided. The interior pocket has on a silk tag : 484 50/77/81 and the name " Hartmann " hand written in red ink .
