    Brazilians Polish in WW2

    Hi All,

Some Brazilians Polish immigrants had been voluntary and had fought with the "Free Poles Forces" in some places of the World during the Second World War.

Here they are some uniforms of my collection to illustrate this history, that involves armored troops who had fought in France (Normandy), Italy (Monte Casino), in the Atlantic (Royal Navy) and the RAF.

    Best regards from Brazil,

    Ricardo.

                        waw,nice tunics!!!!!
i like them,i have some polish tunics to,they are hard to come by, it is in my eyes harder to find a al matching textbook BD of the polish first armoured division, then a nice WH - tunic , atleast in belgium
i once have bought one from a son of the veteran, and this was a nice tunic, with the shield of lanarkshire on it,it was a recce unit, but wat do you gess, it was stolen from me,somewhere in holland, the man said,i saw the saw the paperwork for retrieving it back,
wel i have gotten my money back, but no polish bd

                          Hi,

Sorry to say but I think the Polish BD is a bad one. Medal ribbons are all out of order (not the biggest deal). There is a Monte Cassino ribbon but no Italy Star? Also the 1st Armored Div. were never in Italy. There are some very rare circumstances in which this BD COULD have been possible but I highly doubt that this is one of those cases.

On a positive note I do believe it to be an original 1st Armored BD that has been dressed up.

Do you have any history behind it or did you buy it outright from a dealer? Wish I had better news for you.

                          Regards,
                          Greg

                            Hi Greg,

Both uniforms had been donated to me by livings veteran. Both are managing of the Poland Society in my city and founders of the Association of Polish Veterans of War (one of the 20 entities in the world).

I will be gaining a medal of this institution in some days for my services in the preservation of the memory of these WW2 veterans.

I will receive a complete uniform from a Polish Sergeant that fought for the RAF.

The ribbons in this Polish Army uniform are presents in this form has 20 years or more (when the look for the first time frame in the Poland Society), he veteran must have placed they without an order and some are damaged (notices the ribbon of "Monte Casino" and the first one place with a pin).

                            Best regards,

                            Ricardo.

                              Hi Ricardo,

As I said in my original post the BD is a GOOD 1st Armoured Div. uniform but that Monte Cassino ribbon has no place on that uniform. That's not to say that he didn't put it there but it's quite likely that he never earned it. That's point is especially true due to the abscence of the Italy Star. In all likelyhood he put the ribbon there post war. For what reason I can't say (but I have a theory). If you have his name I can check the rolls to see if he was ever awarded the Monte Cassino Cross and get back to you.

Just as an FYI the two blue ribbons with stars on the top are wound "badges" showing that he was wounded twice.

                              Regards,
                              Greg
