10.commando Cloth Shoulder Title

WELL OK ......... part of a ten commando title
just thought i would show this and ask for some feed back ,this came in with a mixed bag of unrelated cloth badges , im quite happy its original , it looks like it was the numeral part of a 10 COMMANDO title but for some reason has been cut from the remainder of the badge ,?
its very tempting to say this was done for security reasons as 10 commando appear to have been the most furtive of the commando units but i just woundered if anyone had a more straight forward reason for the removal of the badge end , any comments please shout up ,Michael.

Yes I think you're right, the end looks like it has been chopped straight off but perhaps that's a good thing because it was "done for security" maybe?

For some Reasons they used "commando" title without Numerals.
I had them very often in loads of titles.

I belive (no proof yet) that the offical designation was to be the single word COMANDO, therefore all numbers were removed leaving enough room for the badge to be stitched to the garment.

I have a No. 10 and No. 46.

I know that the polish commandos used to cut away the nr 10 when they joined the 2:nd armour brigade in Italy, spring 1944. But now when we are talking about nr 10 commando, i just wonder what you think about those attached here below. Any opinions [IMG][/IMG] ?[IMG][/IMG]
