              "Ham and Jam!" chaps!

Unofficial shoulder title for 2nd Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. This Battalion is most famous for it's part in capturing the bridges over the Caen and Orne on D-Day. These titles were specially made and paid for by the Airlanding battalion itself.

              Jack.

                      Very nice Jack.
Only for senior-officers i think??? Do you know when they didn`t wear them anymore?

Jeroen, these were worn by all ranks initially but by the time of D-Day only the more senior officers were wearing them eg Major Howard. Although they could have worn them for longer, I doubt many were worn past late 1944 by any rank, but I'm sure exceptions do exist!

                          Cdn Para Stuff

Great group of Cdn insignia. The wings are both post 1945 vintage. I am still trying to confirm exactly out how early both these examples are. The one on the left seems to have been issued from 1947-1954 however it could be as early as the later part of 1945. The one on the right after 1954 and right up until the 60's. It has been incorrectly referred to a type of wing worn by troops who went to Korea. This is not so. However it was worn by them after their return.

Real WW 2 examples are actually not easy to find. esp the early examples. The one posted previously is a good example of a wartime wing.

I agree Jack, ive asked a friend of mine (former 2nd Oxf&Bucks Lt.) and he never seen these were in Belgium, Holland and Germany. I got his shoulder titles and these are the normal printed ones.

What do you think of this wing, WW2 or later?
