Very nice sets of Airborne insignia!

The book is about the Border Regiment after the war, 1946 till 1969 i think it was.
I thought that Alan Greene is the author, not sure on this though!

    Cheers,

I guess thats the book about the Borders, then KORBRs from post WW2 up to their recent amalgamation - its written by Stuart Eastwood at the Regimental Museum, unfortunately Alan Green passed away a couple of years ago. I think writting the book came a bit out of the blue with the restructuring and meant Stuart has been delayed in getting a second printing of "When Dragons Flew", but it should be out soon with some corrections, and a section of portrait Pics of Borderers at the end - if anyone has any good pics of Borderers (like the one posted early in this thread by Shearing Cross, do you know who he is?) he would love to include them.

    Cheers

    Alistair

The last title in the picture is the Cadet corps type.

        Hello friends.

Here's a little contribution from my collectorfriend Scanman here in Norway on this theme, with some badges belonging to a norwegian SOE-agent named Sgt. Alf Graven. He was a member of the Nor. I. C. 1. (Norwegian Independent Company number 1). Graven participated in the SOE-operation "GREBE 3", together with 2 other members. "GREBE 3" was an SOE-operation towards sabotaging railways and such.

The lower wing, and the flag and the badge "NORGE" was used on his battleuniform when he was parachuted 10.10.1943 in the vicinity of the norwegian lake Midtsjø.

The upper wing he used on his serviceuniform. And the badge on the top was a postwar-badge for former members of Nor. I. C. 1. (also called Kompani LINGE), introduced in november 1946 for use on uniforms.

That will be the one then, i did not now that Alan had passed away, my apologies.
So we have to wait a bit longer for the book to come out, keeps the discussion on the Border titles healthy.

            Cheers,

This is the replica I was referring to, quite unlike mine.

Nice insignia Alistair. I think the pic of the Border lad in BD is great.

About the Border shoulder titles - I have never seen an example of Luc's at any militaria fair. The only two I have seen are Guy's one and this one Luc now has. The ones that are at all the fairs are like the one pictured above - Paki made types, quite distinct. I believe the one Luc has is original and could be wartime but I haven't seen any hard evidence yet. it would be great to get to the bottom of this mystery...

anyway, while not specifically Airborne, I got these recently

                Jack.

Thank Jack, yes it would be nice to know a little bit more about this enigmatic title.

You did very well on the Recce's, did you get a pair from the guy who outbid you on the large lot of titles on ebay recently?

                  Cheers, Luc

                      Very interesting Marc!

Although, does this not only confirm when this type of badge was made an official pattern and not when it first came into being unofficially?

This looks like the same as Luc's example, although I could be wrong.

                      Thanks, from Jack.

                          Well done Jack!

Here's a close up of my title, as you will see it is different from the sealed example.

I know Guy has a beret but what about the rest of you?

A couple of Polish para eagles worn by airborne sappers Josef Lipsk & Gregorsz Szlaruk iwho were at Arnhem - but they don't have the unbeatable personal link that Gary's does.
