      Hello Owen,

oh i didn't know that... So Lorenzo has links with the italian police ?

And he may use that to frighten italian collectors that may disapprove his opinion on his camo items (business) ?

        Vince ,
        You are correct.
Thats what has been conveyed to me by numerous Italian collectors.
        Scary isn't it.

Mr Vince, do you have seen the book? As you can judge a book without having first seen? Your judgments are hasty, unfounded and hide a certain envy, in my opinion.

            Hi,

mister Waffen211, when MANY respected SS camo collectors are pointing out that "the big SS specialist Lorenzo" may be the masterchief of a new scandal in the SS collector community, with dozen of said fake items passed as originals "because he is a specialist", and when we learn that this guy is trying to LEGITIMATE his fake business in books that will be used as main sources for (new) collectors, SORRY but this guy has to be POINTED OUT to the world as what he may be : liar, faker, crook etc etc.

So you are supporting this guy because he is 1) from your country and 2) because 90% of the stuff in his books is legit ?
            Ridiculous.

A faker is a faker. PERIOD. No matter if the guy is from my own blood, own country or anything else. And no matter if this guy is having enough SS camo items to outfit a full SS regiment.
In the past many similar "specialists" were caught selling fakes and legitimating them in books. Do you remember Craig Gottlieb ?

Many collectors were tricked by this guy (read the various topics), the guy can't EVEN remember fakes he sold in the past !
He was caught in 2006 saying that a cover helmet was fake, when INDEED he sold it before as real !

            See You

              Book

This is not to defend anyone. I just want to reiterate that before judging a book, you need to read. I repeat that for me it is envy, what have you published on the same subject.

I just saw some samples pages on rzm.com they look very interesting, many color and unsaw war time pictures.

                  book

But maybe you want to say that in the book the author has included photos of fake pieces? Why you think that the book is not good? Let me understand.

                    Hi waffen211,
I suppose that the question is should we buy books written by (alleged) faker, who cheated some people. For me there is too many question marks around author. Is it okay to support (by buying books) the author, who is accused for cheating to build his collection?
I don't have knowledge to judge these accusations (I am just simple ww2 enthusiast) , but there is too much bad air around this publication.
I wonder if Schiffer will take stance and if they have done proper due delligence.

As for me I went for Michael Beaver "Camouflage Uniforms of the Waffen Ss" and I am very happy about it.

                        Gentlemen,

I finally was able to see a copy of both volumes today in my office and
decided to take some photos to share with this thread. More photos can be seen on the rzm.com where I have the books listed in the Military Collecting section.

From what I have seen so far from flipping through both volumes is that the majority of the camo uniforms and smocks shown appear to be originals and nice examples of the different known patterns produced during the war. There may be some good fakes sprinkled in here and there but it's hard to tell when all you have is just one frontal shot of a smock laid out flat.

I have been reading the negative comments posted regarding the Italian author who has burned some collectors over the years. Was this book deliberately made by him with the master plan to legitimize the fake items he has sold as real? Who knows for sure? I can only say that both books are are well done and nicely printed and bound by Schiffer Publishing. These 2 volumes will be a nice reference for those who are interested in the subject. There are definitely some rare items shown that I found to be quite interesting.

Here are some pages for you to have a look and mull over.
