    Good point by Duzig...

Another good Film Noir featuring featuring Orson Wells and Edward G Robinson is the 1946 classic, "The Stranger"

Wilson of the War Crimes Commission is seeking Franz Kindler, mastermind of the Holocaust, who has effectively erased his identity. Wilson releases Kindler's former comrade Meinike and follows him to Harper, Connecticut, where he is killed before he can identify Kindler. Now Wilson's only clue is Kindler's fascination with antique clocks; but, though Kindler seems secure in his new identity, he feels his past closing in.

      Hi,

How about "Come And See", a Russian movie about partisans in WW2?
If you buy the DVD, you cannot skip chapters to the end - you have to watch the complete film.
Quite surreal, you start to think "what is this about?" then the terror of war is fully shown in the last 25-30 minutes of the movie.
This picture is in my top three war movies, a little tedious at times; but that is the way war is - then bang! the true horror of war is revealed, well worth a watch (or several viewings) in my opinion.

      Best wishes,

      John.

Come and See is very good but not an easy movie to watch, it's pretty horrific.

The war movie I've enjoyed the most is the Battle of Britain, must have watched it at least 50 times since I was a kid. The Blue Max is also one of my favourites.

As to newer releases, here are some good war movies you may have not heard about:

As of late I have enjoyed Brother's War and Rose of Normandy, these are from a reenactors pov but nice story lines.

There are a lot of great ww2 movies that I like a lot. But if I have to say my favorite one has to be The Big Red 1.

You can't beat the cast of "Frauleins In Uniform" and "SS Love Camp".

                    My way

I recently picked up a copy of My Way. Produced by a Korean film company. Subtitled in English. The movie by far exceeded my expectations and I found it quite enjoyable. Highly recommended if you can get past the subtitles.

Have trouble separating Stalingrad and Das Boot. Both great movies.

Watched "Black Sea" recently. Not a wartime flick, but is U-Boot related. It's pretty decent. Here's a preview:

It's hard to be Saving Private Ryan in my view (outside of a few glaring historical inaccuracies that drive me nuts). Also a big fan of Fury.
