--I did love 12 o'clock High, but you know "A Bridge Too Far" is a flick I can watch over and over and over. What a cast!

I voted "Die Brücke", probably the oldest amongst above movies, but definatly a must see,....in black-white, love it!
Mainly because 90 % of the uniforms, fieldgear etc...are original!

      Cheers

        Die Brücke - Nibelungen

Actually is "Die Brücke" a real story. It is taken from the Bad Tölz area were som young SS-Grenadiers from division "Nibelungen" defended the Isar-bridge. Due to the political climate, the SS Grenadiers were in the film turned in to "ordinary" german soldiers

I voted Platoon, but yesterday I saw the movie "We were soldiers", and I found it to be the best movie I had ever seen. I dunno if its realistic, but it is a really moving movie. And this without the typical american patriotism thing.
But I liked all movies mentioned above.

Das Boot was fantastic. The great thing was is that it gave a very accurate idea of what the life was really like. Excellent.

The timeless classic Saving Private Ryan. Very original to say the least. Superb story, special effects and atmosphere.

Shows the grim reality of war very well.

                  Many thanks, from Jack.

I voted for SPR but I sure do love Die Brucke, Stalingrad, Decision Before Dawn, Das Boot, Empire of The Sun, and of course the great retreat scene from Monty Pythons "In Search of the Holy grail" (run away, run away)

I'd forgotten about that one. Stark realism

Battle of Britain. Gotta love a flick with Spitfires, Hurricanes, and Spanish copies of the Bf-109 and He-111.
