I was redireceted to this thread from another.

I always knew Gottlieb had annoyed a lot of people but I really had not beeen involved so read rather than posted comments. Clearly I had a poor opinion of him.

This though is beyond what is right and wrong. Others bones for his self publicity.

His moral compass isn't just defective it's absolutely broken.

A programme like this could have been made with so much honour and dignity ...

Makes you wonder what kind of people, and I use that term loosely, raised this vermin. Will have to investigate that aspect further. It would be unusual to find that such a moral imbecile is not duplicating values he was raised with.

Gottlieb is a scumbag, plain and simple. I don't care if he was selling Himmler's personal helmet (which he probably has) for $1 I would never buy from him. Although he would probably sell the helmet on consignment for 30% commission or buy it from the unsuspecting family and make 2500% profit from it. A true slime ball who is also just as responsible for the meteoric rise in prices wthin our hobby as anyone else. Kameraden, PLEASE! Do not buy from this man. I, for one, never have and never will.

One more thing...here's a BBC film clip on the CORRECT way to excavate war dead, treat their remains, document the site, and do the most important follow-up work of tracking down the families.

I don't know about everyone else but I will be curious to see what if any position OVMS and MAX takes on allowing Gottlieb (a case study in conduct unbecoming) to maintain membership and display at their future shows. If the mission of these organizations is to promote the preservation, research and collecting of historical artifacts this vermin's continued attendance is antithetical. Imagine show attendees being forced to see CG's bannered booth in an event with tables of our elderly military hero's signing autographs! The scenario seems irreconcilable. I guess we'll see what these orgs are really about.

I agree, culturally we, as a country, have sunk to new lows of outright sleaziness and depravity, shows such as Swamp people, Arm busters?, axemen, Hard core pawn (that one is stomach turning and its not the customers that elicit that reaction from me) so many more, just plain stupid and trashy. National Geographic now refers to themselves as 'Nat Geo' in an attempt to be trendy to the 20 somethings and now we have a program like this? at first I thought this was a joke, I am aghast but then I have been since shows like 'Survivor' came along, I guess I am just an old fuddy duddy after all.

Agree 100%. The "pickers" also come to mind; where two "gentlemen" seem to relish telling the elderly their antiques are worth nothing - then selling them to wealthy collectors and gloating over the profits.

All these trashy shows and their "talent" - Pickers, Pawn, Diggers, Storage Whores - are merchants of misery in my opinion - preying on the elderly and those hurting financially.

Many years ago, I found myself in a bad situation and was able to sell off a collection for near its total value - I was fortunate there were no vultures circling me to "take" what I had and tell me I was "lucky to get it". I've heard Rick Harrison (Pawn) say several times people should be glad they are getting anything at all for selling.

A view on this from England, where to start. It pains me to say that some of the morons who took part in this are from the UK. The metal detector 'expert' has fled twitter after receiving much abuse.
Imagine the scenario, a bunch of misfits digging in the Pacific Islands where there are 10's of thousands of MIA's many of which being Marines. Which leads me to the chief cretin gottlieb, isn't he an ex-Marine, where is his honor?

It does beggar belief that this man got into the Marines at all. It was obviously a University fast track for potential officer pen pusher elite? It is all very sickening that a shag sack like him uses it as a letter of recommendation. Man of honor too? oh how upset he was in an interview on his service that he managed to miss out on any overseas' action like his other brothers in arms, and even wiped away a tear from his eye. Thank goodness he wasn't in any theatre of operations for sake of those around him.

For most right minded people on here this is a very emotive subject, especially so for me as I lost a relative in the Great War. He is buried at the Hooge crater cemetery, many of his pals are lost forever. Words can't describe how sickening I find all of this, if gottlieb & co were to attend my local Militaria Fair they would definitely be leaving it on stretchers.

Here is the actual footage filmed from the National Geographic site. As a medical professional and history enthusiast this is nothing sort of idiotic, grotesque, unethical and disrespectful.

That's all? How many of you have actually seen the whole video? I know this guy has a bad rep but to jump on the CG hater band wagon over something that happens many times at burial sites and without seeing all the video is alittle extreme.

He and the team do look like idiots, but it would be nice to see all the footage and the different organizations involved etc.

I doubt there would be such an outcry if it was Joe Smith with the idiot digging team on the video?
