I love the fact that everywhere you look on the model the detail holds up. I'm sure it will end up in a museum. That's outstanding scratch building.

This photo shows the elevator deck locking mechanism. Compare it with the model. Interested to see the F-14 Tomcat were still in service at 90 which all now replaced by FA-18 Super Hornet.

I feel great when they allowed me to turn that steering wheel of Abraham Lincoln. That is the biggest toy in my whole life.

The stern of Abraham Lincoln. This carrier has a brand new condition and no rust. Note that executive officer next to the black person wearing blue duck cap. I remember I asked him may be one day you will become the admiral. His reply is I would rather like to be the captain of this ship.

I've got a friend who served on the Big E during VN. He will get
a kick out of these pictures.

This picture shows the stern of Abraham Lincoln. Note the steel platform. This is not part of the carrier but a floating boarding platform owned by local port authority. You can see 9 vertical beams which as part of the carrier to avoid rear end collision. Also note 2 big rubber balls with tires on them . These act as the cushion between steel platform and those carrier's vertical beams.
Unlike older carrier which someone need to board the ship via a ladder walkway, you can now enter the Abraham directly via the doorway as shown.
